From Apprentice to Model Worker

      At 49 years old, Huang Xiaowei has been with the company for exactly twenty years; from material cutting and punching to assembly, he has held virtually every position in the sheet metal workshop. He is Huang Xiaowei, the team leader of the sheet metal workshop at Weilman Technology.

      In 2004, when Huang Xiaowei joined the company, he made a powerful statement: "I currently lack specialized skills, but I am not afraid of hard work, nor of difficulties or trials. Please trust me—I will certainly be able to make a meaningful contribution in an ordinary position!" He not only spoke this way but also lived it up. When he couldn't understand technical drawings, he studied them while addressing the specific questions; on his days off, he would visit his mentor's home to continue "upskilling." Thanks to this tenacity, he quickly mastered a variety of skills. From 2006 to 2016, he was consecutively recognized as an outstanding employee for both quarterly and annual periods, as well as a skilled model worker. In 2014, he was awarded the title of "Nantong Municipal Model Worker"; in 2017, he was honored as a "Hai 'an Craftsman," and in the same year, he was elected as a deputy to the Nantong Municipal People's Congress.

      In tackling technical challenges, he has achieved remarkable results. In 2010, Wilman became a designated manufacturer of COP control panels for Hitachi elevators, yet the client frequently complained about cracking issues in the AB adhesive. Huang Xiaowei innovatively developed an optimized mixing formula for the AB adhesive, fundamentally resolving the adhesive failure problem; this solution was subsequently adopted by all Hitachi suppliers nationwide. Furthermore, through process innovations, he independently developed specialized tooling fixtures to enable in-house production, thereby reducing annual costs by 150,000 yuan, and optimized the pin-pressing process, increasing production efficiency by 40%.

      As a team leader, he consistently prioritizes employee safety, frequently organizing safety training sessions, and immediately halting any non-compliant operations upon discovery to ensure corrective actions are taken. In 2022, when the company faced tight deadlines for new projects, he led his team in working two days and two nights, forgoing their National Day holiday, to guarantee on-time delivery. He also proactively assisted other departments in developing tooling fixtures, ensuring his presence wherever such support was needed.

      Despite his numerous honors, Huang Xiaowei has always remained grounded: "Being named a Model Worker is not merely an honor; it is also a source of motivation and encouragement. I will continue to work hard to strive to become someone who has made significant contributions to the company." From an ordinary apprentice to a Model Worker, Huang Xiaowei has demonstrated through his craftsmanship and hard work that even in an ordinary position, one can achieve an extraordinary life.

      Rare earth extraction is a lengthy and highly meticulous process chain. Every set of parameters and every inspection directly impacts product quality and production safety. A slight deviation can lead to entirely different outcomes for an entire batch.

      Zhao Yingcao's job is to walk among these numbers day after day. Process monitoring, process control, equipment inspection, on-site 5S initiatives... These terms may sound mundane, but to execute them thoroughly every single day, one cannot rely solely on technical skills; what is essential is a strong sense of responsibility.

      He dared not relax. For he knew that every figure recorded in his logbook was not meant for anyone else to see—it was a weighty account, intended for the product, for the customers, and for himself.

      In his work, Zhao Yingcao not only demonstrates a strong sense of responsibility and diligence, but also proactively cooperates with his work team's arrangements. When new employees take up their posts, he patiently explains the key operational points and precautions for routine inspections; when the team faces a heavy workload, he proactively steps in to take on additional tasks and share the pressure. He often emphasizes that each production step is closely linked; merely performing one step well is not enough—ensuring the stability of the entire production line is what truly constitutes excellence.

      Through his diligent efforts and outstanding professional achievements, Zhao Yingcao has been named an Outstanding Employee of 2025. There are no easy wins; behind every accolade lie years of steadfast perseverance and quiet dedication. In his ordinary role, he has demonstrated rigor and a strong sense of responsibility, becoming the most reliable source of confidence for his colleagues.

      In the early days of the company, Tian Renrong became an operator at the Ningbo Zhonghang chip-shaving workshop. That year, having just started his job, he had to learn everything from scratch.

      More than a decade has passed, yet he remains at the same workstation. While the task of sheet spinning may sound simple, its execution demands meticulous attention to detail. He has set a personal rule: he would not overlook the slightest defect. For every step of the process, he would only move on once it had been executed flawlessly. Over the years, his personal product qualification rate has consistently remained at an outstanding level.

      When orders were prioritized for expedited processing, the workshop became its busiest period. He never shied away; instead, he was always the first to step forward and assist the section foreman during overtime to meet production targets—without regard for personal gain or loss, and without a single complaint. Nor was he content merely to complete his assigned tasks. When the equipment exhibited minor malfunctions or when a production process encountered a bottleneck, he would proactively approach engineers and section foremen to inquire, gradually transforming the expertise of others into his own capabilities. Driven by this relentless dedication, he proposed numerous small improvement suggestions, which in turn boosted the operational efficiency of his work team and reduced material waste.

      As new equipment and new processes came online, while others were still taking a wait-and-see approach, he took the lead by first learning and practicing, ensuring he thoroughly mastered the key operational points. When new employees joined, he provided hands-on guidance, passing on his decades of accumulated practical expertise to the younger staff, bit by bit.
